DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) — Plans have been announced for a recreational soccer complex on Daniel Island.
The complex, named Pitch 579, would be used to house fields for leagues, camps, clinics and tournaments.
The idea for the five-acre plot of land includes four 7v7 and two 5v5 artificial turf soccer fields.
In addition, the complex would have a community clubhouse and 15,000 square-feet of retail space, including a restaurant.
“We’re thrilled to be creating a place for the families of Daniel Island to share in the game of soccer as well as gather for meals, events, and shopping. As the community continues to grow, we want to provide a place of recreation and respite to serve residents of all ages,” said Tony Bakker, one of the project's developers.
The complex would go up bordering Talison Park Lane and Parkline Avenue.
Plans are being submitted to the City of Charleston.
A timeline has not yet been set.
